An Innovative Experimental Petrographic Study of Concrete Produced by Animal Bones and Human Hair Fibers

The greek newspaper "Ethnos" published the interview of Dr. Petros Petrounias, member of CERTH, regarding an innovative study, coordinated by Dr. Nikolaos Koukouzas, Research Director of CERTH / IDEP. The research has been published in the scientific journal Sustainability under the title: "An Innovative Experimental Petrographic Study of Concrete Produced by Animal Bones and Human Hair Fibers".The study examines the production of environmentally friendly concretes by using by-products such as animal bones and human hair fibres as concrete components, resulted by slaughterhouses butchers and hair salon waste. For this research, CERTH / IDEP collaborated with the Department of Geology - University of Patras and ELGO DIMITRA (Plant Protection Division of Patras).

The following scientists participated in the writing team from CERTH: Petros Petrounias, Petros Koutsovitis and Nikolaos Koukouzas.
