BEST YOUNG BIOMASS RESEARCHER AWARD

The research associates Michalis Alexandros Kougioumtzis and Vasilis Filippou from the Centre for Research & Technology, Hellas (CERTH) – Chemical Process & Energy Resources Institute (CPERI), under the scientific supervision of Dr. Panagiotis Grammelis, on the 5th – 8th of March 2024 were in Wels, Austria, to present the scientific work entitled “Evaluation of pellets produced from coffee residues mixed with biomass residues” in the international conference “World Sustainable Energy Days 2024”.

For this scientific work, among 110 scientific papers from 40 countries around the world, they were awarded with the “Best Young Biomass Researcher Award”.

This award is a testament to their dedication, hard work and contribution to the field. The aim of the work is the investigation and exploitation of coffee residues for the production of solid biofuels to cover energy demands and the impact on local communities, thus promoting circular economy and a sustainable future.
