On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we would like to cordially invite you to participate in the International Conference on Biofuels for Sustainable Development of Southern Europe (Bio4SuD) to be held in Thessaloniki (Greece) on 19-20 November, 2012. This conference is organized as part of the BIOFUELS-2G demonstration project funded by the European Union and the LIFE+ Programme.

The Bio4SuD conference aims to:

• highlight promising R&D activities in the fields of biofuels production
• present demonstration projects of key 2nd and 3rd generation biofuels production technologies
• promote networking between academic and industrial stakeholders and
• initiate Private-Public Partnerships (PPPs).

All academic, research and industrial stakeholders active in the area of biofuels technologies and related areas are invited to participate in the conference.

με ιδιαίτερη χαρά σας προσκαλούμε να συμμετάσχετε στις εργασίες του 12^ου Πανελλήνιου Συμποσίου Κατάλυσης, το οποίο θα διεξαχθεί στα Χανιά, 25-27 Οκτωβρίου 2012. Την διοργάνωση του συμποσίου έχει αναλάβει το Πολυτεχνείο Κρήτης σε συνεργασία με την Ελληνική Καταλυτική Εταιρία.

Το συμπόσιο θα πραγματοποιηθεί στο Σταυρό Ακρωτηρίου Χανίων, στην ξενοδοχειακή μονάδα PERLE RESORT CRETE Ο Σταυρός είναι μια όμορφη παραθαλάσσια περιοχή/συνοικισμός του Ακρωτηρίου, περίπου 4 χιλιόμετρα βόρεια του Πολυτεχνείου Κρήτης (εκεί έγιναν τα γυρίσματα της ταινίας «Ζορμπάς» του Ν. Καζαντζάκη). Η ξενοδοχειακή μονάδα PERLE RESORT όπου θα πραγματοποιηθεί το Συνέδριο -μια από τις καλύτερες, υψηλής ποιότητας παροχών μονάδα της Κρήτης- μας έχει κάνει ειδική προσφορά για την παραμονή των συνέδρων και τη χρήση των χώρων της για τη διεξαγωγή του συνεδρίου.

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we would like to cordially invite you in the International Conference “Hydrogen Energy for Life” on Hydrogen Economy and Production, which will be held in Thessaloniki (Greece) on 24 May, 2012. This conference is funded by the LIFE+ BIOFUELS-2G project (http://www.biofuels2g.gr).

A key component of the BIOFUELS-2G project is a hydrolytic solar hydrogen production unit, which was designed and constructed in CERTH to demonstrate the potential of employing renewable hydrogen for increasing the sustainability of 2nd generation biofuels production. Driven by this incentive, the H2Life conference aims to:

• Highlight promising R&D activities in the fields of renewable hydrogen production
• Outline recent demonstration projects of highlighting hydrogen utilization as energy carrier
• Promote networking between academic and industrial stakeholders and
• Initiate Private-Public Partnerships (PPPs) on the above issues

The agenda includes:

• LIFE program Open Day presentation
• Special Anniversary Happening
• Biofuels-2G Project presentation
• R&D – Demo Projects presentations on hydrogen economy and production
• Roundtable discussion on the future of renewable H2 and hydrogen economy

During the event a tour at the hydrogen production site will be held with a live demonstration of the Biofuels-2G production process. This event is employed as 20th year anniversary event of LIFE program.

Στις 13 Μαϊου 2011 στο Κέντρο Διάδοσης Επιστημών ΝΟΗΣΙΣ οργανώνεται ημερίδα παρουσίασης του προγράμματος χρηματοδότησης μακρόχρονης έρευνας της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης Χημικών Βιομηχανιών (CEFIC - Long range Research Initiative - LRI).  Είναι η πρώτη φορά που δίνεται η δυνατότητα παρουσίασης του πολυετούς αυτού προγράμματος χρηματοδότησης έρευνας  στην Ελλάδα.

The European Commission will publish the fifth Call for Proposals under the LIFE+ Programme in February 2011, with up to €265.360 million available across the EU for co-financing projects under three headings: nature and biodiversity; environment policy and governance; and information and communication.
